Hi ya All,

I was asked to make a tutorial about how to change your default Sim pictures in CAS / Sim Bin.
(Some people noticed this when I posted some screenshots, relating to my problems with Gwyneth).

First you need to download a program and install it on your computer.
This program is called "Postal", you can look into & edit single package files with this (and also Sim-files, I found out).
You can download Postal here: Download link

After download and install, go to the: My documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3/Saved Sims - directory and open the file you want the picture changed in CAS.


Right click on the file and select "Open with"


Look up the postal program on your computer and make it the default program to open Sim-files with (so you can double click on a Sim-file to open it in the future; do to this exercise)


And click OK


And the Sim-file will open


Select PNG, like in the picture below


And you will see the default CAS picture of the Sim.
Now select Import PNG


And select a picture on your computer (PNG-file with size 512*512 pixels), to change the default picture


Select the picture and it will be imported in the Sim-file.
THAN CLICK COMMIT (IMPORTANT !!)


Than to the same for the 2nd PNG in the Sim-File


Than click Save as


Select "All Files" in the list, otherwise the Sim-files will not be visable


Go to the Saved Sims directory again and select the Sim-file you wanted to change


And overwrite the file "OK"


And the next time you open CAS, the default picture will be changed.

*** For this to work, you have to close down the Sims 3 Game first !!! After you have changed the pictures, you can start up the game again ***

Does this work for changing for changing the CAS photo of other things, like makeup?

Good question Sleepy !
This should also work for make up in (package format of course), but the picture - thumbs should have to be smaller than the 512 * 512 used for the sim CAS pics.

OK. This is good, because a lot of Lemonleafs things look the same. lol
